Meet Devesh Solanki, QXAS Academy’s New Training Manager.

There are lots of intelligent and experienced people working behind the scenes at QXAS; people you don’t often see, but who lay the very foundations for QXAS’s existence. Amongst these are our experienced trainers, the dynamic duo that run the QXAS Training Academy.

One half of the team is Jay Joshi – the AVP of Training, who we introduced well over a year ago, the other half is Devesh Solanki, his number 2.

Please can you introduce yourself.

I am Devesh, a Training Manager in the QXAS Training Academy.  I am a part qualified accountant with a rich experience in training accountants. I graduated in Commerce from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. It is one of the best universities in India.

What does your role at QX entail?

Being a training manager in the QXAS Academy, my responsibilities mainly revolve around training new starters as well as existing accountants in the QXAS team. I train a mixed bag of people, from commerce graduates, part qualified CA/ACCA, qualified CA/ACCA to staff with MBAs in Finance.

What were you doing before you joined the team?

In college, I was really into numbers and analytics and decided to graduate in Commerce. After taking the Chartered accountancy course post my graduation, I realised that my passion was really in communication and business training, so I decided to pursue a career in Accountancy training instead.

After I became a part-qualified accountant, I spent 3 years as an Academic Head for the Institute of Computer Accountants (ICA), where I led a team of 11 trainers and trained over 2500 trainees. I joined QXAS just over a month ago.

What’s the most exciting thing happening at QXAS?

Unlike most accountants (laughs), I am a huge fan of modern technology. One of the most interesting projects we've undertaken recently has been the QXAS Tracker, a job tracking app, developed by our Software Services division, which allows our clients to see the progress of their outsourced jobs in real-time.

We also have some exciting plans to expand QXAS further abroad – we are already in the UK and US as you know, but I can’t divulge anything now!

What do you like about QX?

The friendly people who’ve made me feel so welcome. This is all helping me settle into my role here. I like the tools they use for internal communication, the corporate culture, work ethic and also the support I receive from my manager, Jay Joshi, and my colleagues. I am building new skills and am excited to see where the rest of my career will take me.

What advice would you give to your trainees?

Make yourself familiar with UK accountancy and ask for training if you think you have not understood any part of it.

This is first in a series of interviews that’ll introduce the people that make QXAS happen. We’ll feature people from across the company in roles from accountants and payroll experts to management and training.
